BHG Launches New Culinary Adventure in Miami

On November 15th, Miami welcomed a new landmark to its skyline as Boulevard Hospitality Group (BHG) introduced its most ambitious project to date. Yamashiro, the legendary Los Angeles restaurant known for its hillside views, Japanese-inspired architecture, and decades of celebrity guests, officially opened its long-anticipated Miami location. As the brand’s first expansion outside of California, Yamashiro Miami represents a new chapter led by BHG and CEO Freddy Braidy, whose vision has transformed venues across Los Angeles. Now, BHG is bringing over 100 years of Yamashiro history to South Florida.

The original Yamashiro Hollywood, recognized by the City of Los Angeles as an official “Historic Resource,” first opened in the early 1900s and was known for its architecture, gardens, koi ponds, and one-of-a-kind views of Los Angeles. Over the decades, it has become a cultural and celebrity hotspot, hosting icons like Marilyn Monroe, Howard Hughes, Gwyneth Paltrow, Johnny Depp, and countless musicians and actors. Now, BHG has reimagined that spirit in Miami with an experience that honors the restaurant’s heritage while embracing its new East Coast surroundings.

Located at 159 NE 6th Street atop the Gale Miami Hotel & Residences, Yamashiro Miami spans 9,000 square feet across indoor and outdoor dining spaces overlooking the downtown skyline. The design reflects its Los Angeles predecessor, with Japanese architectural touches such as bonsai trees, koi ponds, fire pits, water features, and a bar modeled after a Japanese temple. BHG’s intention with the space is to create an environment where guests can feel immersed in history and art, even as Miami’s high-rise silhouette surrounds them.

To celebrate the grand opening, the restaurant hosted a launch party featuring a DJ set by Gianluca Vacchi. Much like its Hollywood counterpart, which has long been associated with LA nightlife, the Miami location also hopes to become a late-night destination for music, ambiance, and food. This energy is a hallmark of BHG’s approach to its venues, which has consistently turned historical spaces into immersive hospitality experiences.

More specifically, Yamashiro Miami is BHG’s newest venture, extending the company beyond Los Angeles for the first time. Under Freddy Braidy’s leadership, the group has a reputation for preserving history while infusing their venues with more contemporary elements. Other projects have included the revitalization of the TCL Chinese Theatre and the transformation of a 1920s fire station into the Kodō Hotel & Restaurant. Each property shows Braidy’s belief that hospitality should feel rich with detail and emotion. Now, Yamashiro Miami is an East Coast debut that intertwines the brand’s century-long legacy with modern flavors.

Yamashiro Miami’s menu was put together by Partner and Chef Charbel Hayek and Executive Chef Gustavo Montes. Under BHG’s direction, their menu honors Yamashiro’s iconic dishes while incorporating Miami’s coastal favorites. In Miami, guests will find many of Yamashiro Hollywood’s successes, such as the wagyu tomahawk, yuzu saiko black cod, toro tartare, robata menu items, and Maine lobster tempura. But Yamashiro Miami also introduces exclusive new dishes to reflect its South Florida setting. For example, Chef Charbel has created Ibérico pork marinated in black garlic mojo, a reinterpretation of Japanese fried chicken tossed in spicy gochujang Buffalo sauce, and an Alaskan king crab enriched with yuzu hollandaise. The chefs emphasize that the menu will evolve with the seasons, embracing Miami’s fresh seafood while maintaining Yamashiro’s quality. Furthermore, the beverage program features specialty cocktails infused with Japanese spirits, tropical fruits, and aromatic accents. Premium sake and a unique wine list round out the offerings, each selected to complement the restaurant’s seafood-forward and umami-rich dishes.

Yamashiro Miami is also a premier event destination that reflects everything BHG stands for, including hosting high-end parties. Its layout accommodates intimate dinners, corporate events, brand activations, and photo or film shoots. The restaurant offers multi-course dinners, cocktail-style packages, and even full buyouts, making it an ideal location for gatherings that require high visual impact. This versatility reflects BHG’s understanding of what modern guests and event planners seek in luxurious hospitality spaces.

For Freddy Braidy and Boulevard Hospitality Group, the opening of Yamashiro Miami represents the preservation and experience-driven design that their company is known for. The Hollywood landmark will always be a cultural symbol in Los Angeles, but now its fame has been transported to Miami, where BHG has turned it into something just as culturally resonant. With Chef Charbel and Chef Gustavo leading the kitchen, Yamashiro Miami provides dining experiences that are both cinematic and contemporary. As Miami continues to grow into a global culinary destination, Yamashiro – through the vision of Boulevard Hospitality Group – aspires to become one of the city’s most popular new landmarks.
