House Democrats request 'transcribed interview' with Andrew Mountbatten Windsor on Epstein

Democrats on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on Thursday demanded Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, the civilian formerly known as Prince Andrew, to answer questions about the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In a letter to the former prince, House Democrats requested a "transcribed interview" with Andrew about "Epstein’s sex trafficking operations" in the "interest of justice for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein."

"The Committee is seeking to uncover the identities of Mr. Epstein’s co-conspirators and enablers and to understand the full extent of his criminal operations," the letter stated. "Well-documented allegations against you, along with your long-standing friendship with Mr. Epstein, indicate that you may possess knowledge of his activities relevant to our investigation."

House Democrats wrote that Andrew went with Epstein to his New York home, the royal estate Balmoral in Scotland and Epstein's private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he has "been accused of abusing minors."

"This close relationship with Mr. Epstein, coupled with the recently revealed 2011 email exchange in which you wrote to him 'we are in this together,' further confirms our suspicion that you may have valuable information about the crimes committed by Mr. Epstein and his co-conspirators."

The letter also mentions allegations made by the late Virginia Giuffre that Andrew "abused
her when she was just 17 years old." They cited her posthumous autobiography, in which Giuffre writes how she feared Andrew might retaliate against her if she made allegations against him.

"Recent reporting confirms those fears, as law enforcement authorities in the United Kingdom have launched an investigation into allegations that you asked your personal protection officer to 'dig up dirt' for a smear campaign against Ms. Giuffre in 2011," the letter stated. "This fear of retaliation has been a persistent obstacle to many of those who were victimized in their fight for justice."

House Democrats told Andrew to respond to their letter by Nov. 20.

The letter was signed by ranking member Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) and included signatures from Reps. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) and Lateefah Simon (D-Calif.), along with Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.).

“Rich and powerful men have evaded justice for far too long," Garcia said in a committee statement. "Now, former Prince Andrew has the opportunity to come clean and provide justice for the survivors. Oversight Democrats will not stop fighting for accountability and transparency for survivors of Epstein and his gang of co-conspirators."

King Charles III formally stripped his younger brother of his titles earlier this month. Andrew lost the designation “his royal highness," as well as his title of "Duke of York." Charles's announcement on Oct. 30 also ordered Andrew to leave his home at Royal Lodge.

Giuffre, who died by suicide in April, claimed that she was brought into Epstein's sex trafficking ring. She said that Andrew allegedly exploited her.

Last week, Giuffre's brother Sky Roberts told the BBC the family praised the king's actions and said his sister took "down a prince."

“She’d be so proud,” Roberts added. “He’s just Andrew.”
