Live updates: Bolton in court to face federal charges; Trump, Zelensky to huddle following Putin call

Former national security adviser John Bolton will make his first federal court appearance Friday after he was charged with unlawfully sharing and storing classified information.
On Thursday, a federal grand jury in Greenbelt, Md., returned an indictment charging Bolton with 18 felonies, making him the third longtime foe of President Trump that the Justice Department has recently brought charges against.
Trump on Friday will welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House for a third time to discuss ending his country's war against Russia. The meeting comes a day after Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders announced they would meet soon in Hungary to discuss peace. Amid that, Zelensky has been pushing for U.S. Tomahawk missiles to allow his military to strike more deeply into Russian territory.
Congress is out on Friday, but Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) will hold his daily press conference on the government shutdown — now in its 17th day — at 10 a.m. EDT.
