Watch: Congressional Hispanic Caucus chair holds presser on Grijalva's delayed swearing in

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.) held a press conference Wednesday morning on the delayed swearing in of Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.), who won her special election last month.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has denied that his refusal to swear in the lawmaker is related to her decisive vote for a discharge petition that would force a vote on a bill compelling the Justice Department to release files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Johnson has said Grijalva, who was elected on Sept. 23, will be sworn in once the government shutdown is over, while Democrats have urged him to do it before then.
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (D) on Tuesday threatened legal action over the delay.
“It’s way past time for Mike Johnson to stop the political games and seat Adelita without delay. Today, my office is sending a letter to Speaker Johnson demanding he do so,” Mayes said in a statement.
“We are keeping every option open to us, including litigation, to hold him accountable and make sure that Adelita is able to begin her work as Arizona’s newest member of Congress.”
